Day 1: Welcome to Laos (L/D)

After emigration at Thai-Border in Chiang Khong and crossing the Friendship-Bridge for Immigration Laos, our team awaits you for a short transfer to the boat-pier. Embarkation on the RV Mekong Sun, a comfortable German-Laotian Boutique Cruise ship. Settle into your comfortable cabin for a four day cruise though Northern Laos. While cruising a Lunch will be served. Relax and enjoy the spacious deck, lounge on board and attend your evening welcome reception. (L,D)

Day 2: Marketplace Pakbeng (BLD)

The river traffic increases as you pass through a densely populated region accessible only by water. Our voyage continues to the small town of Pak Beng, where you can take a walk to the local market. Once back on the vessel you will continue downstream and anchor at a sand bank.

Day 3: Pak Ou Caves (BLD)

Your cruise will take you further downriver, where you will discover some of the most remarkable, most impressive landscapes of this still-untamed river. The landscape becomes more and more spectacular: hills covered with tropical vegetation, awe-inspiring rock formations along the river banks, and a fascinating array of fast currents and slower river parts on the river. The power of the mighty Mekong will give your cruise the feeling of a real expedition. Stop for excursion at a Khmu – Hmong – mixed village. Back to the boat again please enjoy the beautiful views and watch nature’s wonders along the shores. Stop at a small riverside village for a visit the famous Pak Ou Caves, with thousands of small Buddha statues inside the caverns. Stop at a sandbank near a small village for the night.

Day 4: Luang Prabang (BL)

After breakfast we will arrive UNESCO World-Heritage City of Luang Prabang. Check-out and disembark. End of services with your transfer to the airport or your hotel in Luang Prabang (within city limits)

Documents and Vaccinations

Depending on your nationality, you will need visa for Laos (passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your departure date from Southeast Asia):
Visas can be obtained on arrival for entry in Huay Xay.

Each visa purchased on arrival, valid 30 days: 30-42 US$ in cash, depending on nationality + one passport sized photo). Subject to change without prior notice.
Visas on arrival cost 1 US$ /person extra on Saturday and Sunday.
