The People behind Mekong River Cruises

“As a Cruise Director it is my pleasure to ensure your welfare and comfort during your time aboard. I am organizing many activities for making sure that all passengers are having a great time and I am looking forward to share my substantial knowledge about the country & people of Laos with you.”

Thomas Stukenbrok (*1975) is a German and English-speaking cruise director, tour leader and language teacher with nearly 10 years of experience in Asia. He was raised in Germany and had several apprenticeships such as in Banking and Telecommunications. Thomas works mainly as a Cruise Director on the mighty rivers Mekong and Irrawaddy. He also worked as a Train Director on the Transsiberian Railway for a few times.
Since 20 years he has been traveling in Southeast Asia and fell in love with the culture and traditions of Laos and Myanmar. He lives in Myanmar since 2005.

Our chief steward was born in Laos in 1985 and has been working with us since 2010. He knows every nook and cranny of the Mekong Sun and is always happy to help.

Our experienced captain was born in Luang Prabang in 1952 and has always lived close to the Mekong. His lifelong friendship with the wild river makes him find a through even when the tide is low or the currents are strong.
